It is now four month ago that we were the hosts of a very nice guy from Israel who not only enjoyed time with us but also made a event about Football in Israel. On April 16th 2015 he was the special guest at HausZwei / freiLand Potsdam and talked about the Israeli fan culture in general and about the fanbased club Hapoel Katamon Jerusalem in particular.

Since than many things happened. Katamon won the last three matches left in the Liga Alef championship 2014 / 2015 and was promoted to Liga Leumit, to the 2nd but 1st professional league in Israel. The Hapoel Jerusalem Baskets got historical by winning the basketball championship. So really big parties were held in Jerusalem. And also the new Saison will be interesting. On Friday, August 21st, the fanbased football club will start into a new adventure within a universe of mostly private owned sporting associations. And the club is well prepared. The number of members declined to 674 until now. Two promising young players came back. The budget is and can be higher because of more TV broadcasting and more coverage in the national media.

But let’s come back to the event in April. Because we had recorded the interesting presentation of our guest from Israel and have edited it. Now you can listen to the sound of Hapoel Katamon Jerusalem, learn more about the history and the fans of the club, the Jerusalem Neighborhood League of Katamon and the Ultras. And of course you can learn more about, how it is to live in Israel, in a society of divided communties, how the fanculture is working and why it is so important that fanbased teams were established.

The whole playlist you can listen on Soundcloud here. But of course you can also get informed just about the different issue. So just go to the track about the History of Hapoel Katamon Jerusalem, the israeli fanculture, fanbased teams in Israel, the fans of Katamon, the different communities and its division, about the Jerusalem Neighborhood League of Katamon and the activities of Katamon fans against discrimination, about the Hapoel Jerusalem Baskets and last but not least you can listen to the history of the Ultras of Hapoel Katamon, born and grown straight out from Malcha. So, enjoy it and go to Israel to visit and support these nice club from Jerusalem.
